Some Updates

Hi, all! Hi, all! I miss blogging a lot, and all your updates, but computer time is rare nowadays. I have been busy with all sorts of hats, though not much in the culinary side. Minnesota summer is so short that we try to make the most of it while it's here.

Everyone had a blast in our mini vacation up north that we are planning to go back in a few weeks.

Here's Aliyah harvesting at Grandpa's garden.
I was inspired to cook one day last week, but other than that...
It's mostly this kind of meals lately.
But hey, life is good!

Great photos Kai. Your "simple" food looks great too. I am glad you are enjoying the summer. Over here, we enjoy every part of the year *but* summer.

Hi Kai! It's wonderful to see a note from you at my blog and I'm even happier to see you update us with a post on your own blog. I have been imagining you and your lovely family busy out of the house enjoying things, just as you wrote!

What a lovely summer you are having thus far. Totally dig both the photos of the water. I'm a water gal, and whatever lake you're near, the scenery must be gorgeous! Love seein' Aliyah in the garden; it does my heart good. The food as always, yummers!

Next up: Another mini vacation for you?! EXCELLENT!

Glad you are enjoying your summer.

Nice to hear an update from you! The summer here has been great - even the rainy parts. I've loved it and can imagine it is hard to bring yourself inside and sit at a computer when the sun is shining.

You're right - life is good!!

Liz, thanks. That's so sweet!

Leslie, I guess your summer would be our winter then... Stay cool.

Dragonslayer- glad you know what I'm talking about! And thanks for the visit.

K- we are surrounded by lakes in every direction, but Lake Superior is really a class of its own.

However, nothing like the CA waves that I miss. I'd pick that over Disney and Hollywood anyday.

Oh, and I have to quote DH who was standing over my shoulder reading your comment: "That Kleopatra really warms my heart."

There you have it. Thanks, K!

Megan, thanks a bunch. You've a lot of awesome (drool-worthy) things going on in your blog!

Oh, Teddy- have a great vacation. After an awesome SF time. You'll have so much fun, you'll forget about the internet!

Dori-
Here's a good Indian restaurant in Bloomington:

We have not been to any restaurants inside the mall since goin vege, so I couldn't recommend any from there. It would be fun to go to the Rainforest Cafe, but I'm not sure about their vege menu.

There are more options in nearby Minneapolis, let me know if you plan to go there.

I'm a huge fan of simple foods. You know many of my meals as a raw vegan are "simple" but people think they take a lot of time, lol. ;-)

Delicious Kai! Simple but totally effective in making me hungry!
And Aliyah seems she will become a great green thumb, just like her grandpa!

Kai, in answer to your question on my blog, DEFINITELY!! Finding blogspot and this little "community" has been absolutely wonderful for me. I think the biggest influence was seeing how much you all really enjoyed the process... it rubbed off on me or something because in the past, the vegan process was one of sacrifice, guilt, good/bad and all that. Now, it seems natural and I never, ever thought tht would happen.

Oh, I SO miss Minnesota and the North Shore!! Whereabouts are you? We used to have a cabin between Lutsen and Grand Marais. It sure is beautiful there! You're making me homesick. :)
