Hello Again

Should I tell you about the sights in Italy...
the shopping in Paris...
the strolls in London...
the hues of Greece...
or the evenings in Venice?

I better not. I never went there anyway. But I'm glad to be back... from blog hibernation.

I might as well tell you of my short trips to the organic produce stand nearby, the Gardens of Eagan. It is such a pleasure to have locally grown organic produce available everyday in the summer and I could only imagine how wonderful it is living in an area where the bounties are available year-round. I've been enjoying all kinds of melons- red, yellow, orange, and in between, and have not been adventurous lately on trying new recipes. I'm saving that for the cooler days, but not the baking! In that area, we are always up for adventure. More on that at coming posts.

Now, to break the iceberg:

I didn't have the one ingredient which in my opinion, makes this recipe interesting, but that didn't stop me from making Speedvegan's Paella. It was rather nice even without the beer, and one that I would make again, and again. Another winner, Liz!

Since making Susan of FatFree Vegan blog's Pineapple Coffee Cake a few weeks ago, I have read of others blogging about it, but hey, better late than never. This cake is worth the space!

And now, I'm leaving you with "the girl with the pot hat" and an eye and a hand for order-

and a promise to be back with some unusual (and the usual) food.

Kai, did you know that lining up things like toys or potatoes (!) is the first skill children develop on the road to learning how to make patterns?

Welcome back to blogdom -- I'm so jealous you live so close to the Gardens of Eagan! My co-op regularly stocks a bunch of their yummy produce. I should drive down there for a visit sometime!

You've been missed, Kai. So happy to see your words, food and photos.

"The girl with the pot hat" made this Dr. Seuss-appreciating person smile as her brain started swirling with some prose-y poetry...

Love the little fingers and are those red potatoes in order there?

The pineappple cake is drool-worthy. Is it a big hit in the Kai household? I would think 'tis! That paella you made from Speed Vegan's recipe (minus the beer, which i also would likely nix) is so beautiful. Great colours and veggie abundance.

That farmstand with Gardens of Eagen must be great! Did you go the the one on S. Robert Trail? I looked at it on the Web site. I have a friend in St. Paul that i would love to tell her about!

Thanks, Kai *HUGS* and it's so great to "see" you again!

Glad to see your are back again too, looks like you have been enjoying your family, love the hat girl. Precious! I don't know why I can't get your new site to register in my blog feeder yet so I can access your new link when you post... the old site keeps coming up for me. I'll just stay linked the "old fashioned" way.

Are you gearing up for your school year?

your daughter reminds me of a line from a cute book we're enjoying, "Do you have a hat?" by Eileen Spinelli

John Chapman had a hat. They say he wore a cooking pot. Some folks believe that, some do not. If true - he was a sight indeed - a pot-topped sower of apple seed.

i could go for some pineapple coffee cake. great to see you, kai!

Yay! Glad your back. It's been tough to stay on top of blogging.

Double Yay for Gardens of Eagan winning against the oil companies!! No oil pipeline through the farm! I'm happy that everyone's effort were effective.
